limate change presents significant challenges in understanding and predicting the behavior of atmospheric and oceanic systems. Rising global temperatures and shifting weather patterns necessitate deciphering the complex interactions within these fluid environments.
Lagrangian Coherent Structures (LCS), patterns in fluid flows delineating regions of coherent motion, are instrumental in this understanding. LCS act as transport barriers, shaping global transport by stretching and compressing fluid in specific directions. By identifying and analyzing these structures, which organize chaotic flows, we can gain critical insights into how climate change could impact transport, mixing, and circulation processes.
Utilizing LCS as indicators aids in developing more accurate predictive models, essential for climate mitigation and adaptation strategies. The proposal aims to address the following questions from a new mathematical perspective and make significant contributions to their final resolution:
