Research experience

Dr. Esteban's research team has extensive experience in molecular and cellular studies of the synaptic function. In particular, it has been a pioneer in the characterisation of the intracellular machinery regulating neurotransmitter receptor transport in synapses.

The importance of this work to human health problems is evidenced by the funding obtained in the last five years from many international agencies related to biomedicine, such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Alzheimer's Association, National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD) and the Dana Foundation.
