Daniel Rodríguez Rius

Daniel Rodríguez Rius (Barcelona, 1971) is an Industrial Engineer and Doctor (Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC)). He is currently professor of the Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering at the UPC, and is a member of the BIBITE research group (Biomaterials, Biomechanics and Tissue Engineering), where he is in charge of the Nanotechnology Biomaterials Group at the NanoEngineering Research Centre (CRnE). Another outstanding feature of his professional career is his experience as the Head of R&D in a company that manufactures medical products.

He has taken part in several applied and research projects in the field of Biomaterials and Medical Products. He is the author of dozens of papers published in scientific journals, and has made many contributions to national and international conferences. He is also the editor of Biomecánica, the official journal of the Iberian Biomaterials and Biomechanics Society (SIBB), and an active member of various scientific associations in the field of Biomaterials and Biomechanics.

His chief area of research is based on the development of new surface treatments to improve the interaction between biomaterial and live tissue, together with the application of nanotechnology to this field of research.
