- Description
- Programme
Psychiatry is undergoing a deep crisis as a scientific discipline and as a medical specialty. One of the major concerns of Prof. Lopez-Ibor in his later writings and conferences was the analysis of the present panorama and to outline future strategies for psychiatry. He proposed as a strategic approach to overcome this crisis to return to the roots of psychiatry and psychopathology as key elements, remaining attentive to the progress of neuroscientific perspectives, importing methods of neuroimaging techniques, creating networks and connectomics, that are becoming the new paradigm and that could be the turning point of future psychiatry, both in research and in practice.
This symposium will analyze the aspects that could explain the current situation of psychiatry with the contribution of latest data and pointing out the limits between a normal and a pathological behavior.
