Steven Weinberg is the last representative of a model of global scientist. A thinker who tries, in a Renaissance spirit, to encompass not only his field of expertise, in which he got the Nobel Prize in 1979, but the entire field of Theoretical Physics including its more philosophical or political derivatives. Weinberg did all that with modesty, hard work and using as frame a deep knowledge of the History of Science. In this conference we will try to take a brief walk through the extensive work of Professor Weinberg, recently deceased, trying to use as a common thread what, from our point of view, were his driving ideas, both in the invention of the Standard Model as well as in his most political activity.
