Abstract
Currently, the vast majority of neurodegenerative disorders that affect brain structures lack an effective clinical strategy for their treatment. Regenerative medicine aims in these cases to achieve an approach based on cell transplantation. However, it needs to have a cell support structure that allows positioning and functional behaviour. It is therefore of the utmost importance to identify synthetic, biodegradable and stable materials, compatible with brain tissue, and capable of promoting angiogenesis processes which ensure the formation of blood vessels inside for adequate cell survival inside the scaffolding. The project goals are the identification of materials on which neural cells are viable and functional. For the development of this study, in vitro studies will be developed to determine the viability, proliferation and differentiation of vascular endothelial cells. In parallel, the viability the use of biomaterials will be studied in vivo along with the characterisation of their functional integration in an experimental mouse model with local brain damage.
