Abstract

Histamine plays a fundamental role in many rare or emerging immunity-related diseases (such as mastocytosis, basophilic leukemias and a variety of inflammatory and neurological diseases). Additionally, this same amine, together with the polyamines derived from arginine, regulate the proliferation and differentiation of very diverse types of cells. The fundamental aim of the project is to use biocomputational strategies in the localisation of specific targets in the metabolism of these amines, their individual elements (enzymes) and the signalling networks of their expression and biological function, which would provide key information (at a minimal cost) to better understand the molecular foundations of these processes and, particularly, for the development of more efficient therapeutic (or diagnostic) strategies to fight against the diseases in which these molecules play a significant role, most of which are rare or emerging immune system, dermatological, gastrointestinal and neurological diseases.
