In 2020, the Ramón Areces Foundation programmed 12 activities in the field of Humanities: the future that awaits us after the pandemic; publishing, books, and culture, before and after the pandemic; the digital condition; pandemics and the economy throughout history; Magellan-Elcano's Around the World: Causes and Consequences and the Human Animal Theory were the topics discussed.
Entitled, Antonio de Oyarzábal: Itinerary and anecdotes of a diplomat, Ambassador Antonio de Oyarzábal reviewed his professional career during a relaxed conversation focused on the historical context of his diplomatic life, with special attention to foreign policy. The conversation, led by the writer Carmen Posadas, who prefaced Oyarzabal's latest book “Crónicas livianas”, and by Raimundo Pérez-Hernández, Director of the Ramón Areces Foundation, also a diplomat and ambassador, reviewed anecdotes, and stories from the last 50 years of the history of Spain. Other activities were carried out in collaboration with the Luis de Camoens Chair of the Carlos III University of Madrid, the José Ortega y Gasset Foundation - Gregorio Marañón - FOM, and the Deliberar Foundation.
