He is currently Associate Professor of economics at CEMFI (Madrid) and Research Fellow at CEPR (London).
Josep Pijoan-Mas got his PhD in Economics from the University College of London. He is currently Associate Professor of economics at CEMFI (Madrid) and Research Fellow at CEPR (London). He has been a visiting researcher at the University of Pennsylvania, the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis and the University College of London. In 2003 he obtained the "Young Economist Award" from the European Economic Association, in 2016 a Leonardo scholarship to researchers and cultural creators from the BBVA Foundation, and also in 2016 he was shortlisted for the 2016 Vanguardia de la Ciencia Award, which recognizes the most important scientific contributions of the year in Spain across all fields for the article "Growing like Spain: 1995-2007".
His research career has focused on the study of the macroeconomic consequences of inequality. He has recently worked on the study of the socio-economic gradient of health and on the determinants of growth in developing economies.
