Bachelor’s degree in Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, he entered the Diplomatic Corps in 1992.

In 1992 and 1993 he was Head of Service of the Department of Neighboring States in the Subdirectorate of Western Europe. Between 1993 and 1996 he was Deputy Chief of Mission of the Spanish Embassy in Dakar.

From 1996 to 1999 he was Chief of Staff of the Director of the Instituto Cervantes and from 1999-2002 he was Director of the Instituto Cervantes in Rome.

In 2002 Consul General of Spain in Mendoza (Argentina), and between 2006 and 2009Cultural Attaché in Costa Rica.

From 2009 until 2012 he was Chief of the Cooperation and Promotion Department of the Directorate of Cultural Relations of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and Development (Agencia Española de Cooperación Internacional para el Desarrollo, AECID). Then, from October 2012 until December 2013 he was Programming Director of the Acción Cultural Española (ACE).

From 2014 to 2018 Ambassador to Honduras and in 2018 he was named Director of the Cultural Division of Spain’s National Library (Biblioteca Nacional de España). He is currently the Director of Cultural and Scientific Relations at the AECID.

In addition to his Diplomatic career, Mr. Albero Suárez curated the following photography exhibitions: Roma 2000, Una Mirada Española (Rome 2000: A Spanish Perspective); España en Roma (Spain in Rome); Costa Rica, Objetivo Pura Vida (Costa Rica, Objective: Pura Vida).

He has also published a wide variety of written works, including four novels: Principiantes, Ya queda Menos, Lenta Venganza; and Mal; five essays: Enfermos del Libro, Instrucciones para fracasar mejor, Godot sigue sin venir, Roba este libro; Esto se acaba; and three poetry books: Sobre Todo Nada (Premio Gil de Biedma, Lista de Esperas, and Volver.
