Life and Matter Sciences Events in 2019

In 2019 the Fundación Ramón Areces organized a total of 48 events in the field of Life and Matter Sciences, in which 358 speakers participated, 229 Spaniards and 129 foreigners.

Addressed issues covered health (such as neonatal screening, artificial intelligence applied to biomedicine, organ transplantation, fatty liver disease, legionella, hepatitis, gut microbiota, lipid mediators, stress); rare diseases (such as autism spectrum disorders, proteostasis and protein secretion); cancer (such as immunotherapy, genomics, personalized cancer medicine, Ras superfamily); neurodegenerative diseases (such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, neurotechnology, magnetoencephalography) and Physical and Chemical Sciences (such as the quantum Hall effect, extreme-light laser, single-particle cryo-electron microscopy, superconductivity, the periodic table, successes, errors and doubts of Albert Einstein, quantum computers, graphene, black holes and gravitational waves).
