Human Capital training is a key priority for the Fundación Ramón Areces and it is primarily coordinated through three main action plans.
An annual scholarship program that allows graduate students and PhD holders to continue their studies abroad; an annual scholarship program for the children of the El Corte Inglés Group's employees that is assigned by the Joint Committee of the Fundación César Rodríguez and the Fundación Ramón Areces; and the financial support of different scientific training excellence programs that are carried on by other institutions.
In 2019, the Foundation allocated a total of €8,045,293 for these scholarship programs.
For the 2019-2020 call, the Foundation received a total of 318 applications, awarded 36 new scholarships (21 for Life and Matter Sciences and 15 for Social Science) and approved 28 extensions. The Foundation allocated €3,139,093 for this training program.

In the field of excellence training, the Fundación Ramón Areces sponsors and supports the Alfredo Kraus Chair of Singing at the Reina Sofía School of Music, the Chair of Commercial Distribution at the University of Oviedo, the Luis de Camoens Chair at the University Carlos III of Madrid and the Chair of Biomedical Engineering of the Carlos III University of Madrid.
The Fundación Ramón Areces has been sponsoring the Alfredo Kraus Chair of Singing at the Reina Sofía Shool of Music since its inception in the 1994-1995 academic year. Throughout these years, 96 students of 18 nationalities have been trained under the leadership of the great figures who successively directed the Chair: Alfredo Kraus, Teresa Berganza, Tom Krause and, currently, Ryland Davies.
The Chair for Commercial Distribution of the Fundación Ramón Areces, as a result of the collaboration agreement signed in 2008 with the University of Oviedo, focuses on the analysis, research, teaching and training of young professionals with regards to the current affairs, reality, problems and perspectives of the different areas of Commercial Distribution.
Since 2016 the Foundation has financed the Luis de Camoens Chair at the Carlos III University of Madrid. The Chair aims to disseminate the Portuguese culture and science in the Spanish society, especially at university level.
In order to promote study and research, in 2010 an agreement was signed with the Carlos III University of Madrid, by which the Ramón Areces Foundation finances the Chair in Biomedical Engineering at the Carlos III University of Madrid.
