Research Support Programs

The Fundación Ramón Areces coordinates its Research Aid Programs through national competitions open to teams from the whole national territory.

Life and Matter Sciences Aid Programs are called every two years. Among their priorities are fighting against diseases, food security, new materials and renewable energy. Social Science Research Aid Programs are annually awarded and want to contribute to the better understanding of technological, economic and social profound changes. These changes might be driven by processes such as globalization and promote the development of new projects in the best interest of our society and, ultimately, of the international scientific community.

In 2019, 579 Spanish researchers worked in a total of 126 active research projects (92 in Life and Matter Sciences and 34 in Social Science). The resources allocated totaled €11,745,443. The funded projects have produced:
