Promotion of Spanish
Science Abroad

Since 2012, the Ramón Areces Foundation has sponsored the associations of Spanish scientists abroad, integrated since 2018 in the Network of Associations of Spanish Researchers and Scientists Abroad (RAICEX).

It aims to give greater visibility to the work carried out by Spanish scientists beyond our borders, as well as to further increase informal international relations between scientists, and between them and society.

In 2021, the Ramón Areces Foundation organized and hosted the 6th Spanish Scientific, Technological and Innovation Diplomacy Meeting, organized with the Spanish Foundation for Science and Technology (FECYT), and the Directorate of Cultural and Scientific Relations of the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation for Development (AECID) and RAICEX.

This annual meeting aims to promote, among the multiple governmental and non-governmental stakeholders, a place for common reflection on Spanish foreign policy with regards to science, technology, and innovation, and to establish international collaboration plans.

The websites of these communities offer more information about the goals and projects of the different associations of scientists abroad.

Despite the fact that the economic and health crisis has affected their action plan, these associations of scientists have maintained a very prominent activity in various fields.
