  • Description
  • Programme

The field of diabetes is very broad, as different organs have different functions in the metabolic control. Not only the pancreas and adipose tissue regulate metabolism, but also muscle, brain and liver have crucial roles in this disease, so it is necessary to take a holistic view on the metabolic syndrome. At present, 25% of the population over 20 years is suffering from metabolic syndrome, but the average age profile of these patients has decreased dramatically in recent years. Will this trend continue in the future? How effective are the current treatments? Are new therapeutic targets being investigated?
