Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Multiple Sclerosis (MS): Molecular Etiology and Novel Treatments
Senior Researcher : Fernando de Castro Soubriet
Research Centre or Institution : Instituto Cajal. CSIC. Madrid.
Together with the group of Dr. Valle Palomo at IMDEA Nanociencia, we have continued our work in the following work pipeline:
A second extended in vivo study of protection in the experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis model of an LRRK-2 inhibitor molecule has been performed. Objective: To determine whether an LRRK2 inhibitor molecule capable of inducing the proliferation and differentiation of oligodendrocyte precursor cells could recover the symptoms in an in vivo model of multiple sclerosis. Results: It has been observed that the tested molecule is capable of reducing the clinical symptoms in a statistically significant manner in this model and of reducing histological lesions and therefore is a proposed candidate for the treatment of this disease. Next Steps: An article on the results is currently being written for publication with the following title and participating authors:
