Though the "eclecticism" with which Official Development Assistance (ODA) is distributed geographically does not look likely to change, the priorities of the international system have altered, redefining the world-aid map in the 21st century. One of the most relevant phenomena is the intensification of the migratory flows from developing countries to developed countries. Nonetheless, to date there have been no studies of the influence of immigration on the geographical allocation of aid. This research project analyses to what extent the migratory flows have modified the pattern of allocation of Spanish ODA and reveals that immigration is relevant for both the selection of partner countries and the allocation of aid quotas, thus exacerbating the fragmentation of the resources and "blurring" the geographical strategy of Spain's official aid.
