Abstract

This research project is framed within the scientific field of the Spanish language and involves a lexicographic renovation as a tool for the teaching-learning of Spanish as a foreign language. The originality of this research lies in the conformation of a new proposal for the optimisation of lexicography applied to the elaboration of didactic and theoretical tools for the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language. The recipients are adjusted to different correspondences or origins and, therefore, the projection is extended and includes a much more heterogeneous group of users in favour of a more complete and detailed analysis. This is an ambitious and extensive project whose ultimate aim is to create a dictionary in electronic format and with web consultation.

A properly organised macrostructure will be built and lexical units that pose problems in the learning of Spanish as a foreign language will be included in order to improve the lexicographical article of the same and to facilitate the production of the learners. The definitions to be projected will be clear, concise, written with a MDF (minimum defining vocabulary) and will be accompanied by examples to clarify the various grammatical aspects (with reference also to grammatical tables with regular and irregular verb models). In addition, notes and observations on spelling, phonics, pragmatic and cultural, syntactic, register, usage or morphological peculiarities will be added and, in order to make the dictionary a visual support, exemplifying images will be included when the case makes it advisable. The availability of a lexicographical tool that allows students of Spanish as a foreign language or additional language to solve their production doubts at different linguistic levels would contribute to the improvement of their linguistic competence.

Spanish students lack a lexicographic tool that would allow them to solve their production doubts in the teachinglearning process of the language at the different linguistic levels and, for this reason, the main objective of this thesis is to elaborate a theoretical-practical research oriented towards the execution of a new and better production of dictionaries to demonstrate how learning dictionaries are also teaching-learning tools for aspects that go beyond the purely lexical and semantic and a more visual and quicker instrument when making specific queries.
